Every Marcus song begins as a conversation: a memory, a place, a feeling without a name. It is answered and reshaped by collaborators who listen differently than we do. What comes back is never quite what was asked for. That is where the music is.

The sessions
Marcus is the musical project of Mark Ruddock: Jamaican-born, Toronto-based, tech founder by day and musical explorer by night.
It began at 34,000 feet. For a decade of long-haul business flights around the world, the headphones went on once the cabin lights went down: cinematic sketches, ambient pieces, trance and chillout, remixes, and the dub and reggae of his first home. Most of those sessions, from Forest Lament to Tatooine Rave, still live on SoundCloud.
The sound
Marcus is what came next: an open-ended exploration of cultures, genres and unexpected combinations. On Dusk to Dawn, world music meets deep house: French and Arabic vocals over Afro-house grooves, Spanish guitar and harp, kora and soukous guitar, even choirs singing in invented Elvish, all carried by a deep, patient pulse. The first record unfolds as a journey through one night.
The studio
By day, Mark builds companies alongside AI agents. Marcus brings that way of working into the studio. A song starts as intent: a place, a memory, a phrase spoken aloud. It is answered, reshaped and pushed somewhere unexpected by collaborators who never sleep, then chosen, cut and finished by one who does. A new way of following creative curiosity, and it has only just begun.
